Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing general accounting tasks under the guidance of the Assistant Controller, ensuring the accurate compilation and reporting of financial data pertinent to hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries utilizing accrual-based accounting principles. Regularly review assigned balance sheet sections to ensure accuracy and prompt correction of discrepancies.
  • Compile complex balance sheet reconciliations, implement timely corrections, and assist in the preparation of the annual budget, Medicare Cost Report, and Tax work papers.
  • Process referral source payment requests for providers, including tracking and calculating monthly professional fees accruals, and assist with Fixed Assets management.
  • Conduct reconciliations for inventory accounts, ensuring that all adjustments are properly documented and authorized.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting as requested by the Controller and maintain Industrial Accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries related to both internal and external audits.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • Special Qualifications: Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is essential.
  • Proficiency in business software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
