Job Title: Inventory Control Assistant

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled Inventory Control Assistant to join our team in Norwalk, California.

Job Summary:

As an Inventory Control Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient management of pharmaceutical inventory. You will be responsible for procuring, ordering, receiving, stocking, and returning pharmaceutical merchandise, following established procedures. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential in maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Determine inventory levels and order merchandise from approved sources, utilizing bid information.
  • Receive and inspect deliveries, verifying quantities and signing delivery receipts.
  • Resolve discrepancies and maintain receiving logs as required by security standards.
  • Place merchandise in display shelves, distribution, and storage areas, indicating cost per unit of issue if necessary.
  • Rotate stock in order of expiration date and comply with special handling and storage requirements for pharmaceuticals.
  • Perform routine inspections of physical inventory to ensure adequate stock levels, expiration dates, obsolescence, and proper storage.
  • Collect, itemize, unit-price, package, and ship expired and/or obsolete pharmaceuticals to the Central Pharmacy returns Room or primary wholesaler.
  • Process Local Pharmacy Requisitions on a weekly basis and forward to location manager.
  • Maintain inventory documents on file in an organized and secured manner, as required by laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information.
  • Excellent written and verbal English-speaking communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of current drug forms, dosage strengths, generic and trade name equivalents, drug storage requirements, and purchasing sources.
  • Demonstrated mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to lift or transport containers/packages of up to 50lbs weight.
  • Ability to learn and operate pharmacy and personal computer systems.
  • Ability to learn and operate electronic ordering devices.
