Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Housing Intake Coordinator to join our team at the Columbia Housing Authority. As a key member of our Affordable Housing Operations team, you will be responsible for responding to inquiries, providing community outreach, reviewing applications, and determining eligibility for our public housing program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries regarding our public housing program, providing information on unit availability, application processes, and eligibility guidelines.
  • Conduct outreach for the public housing program, including information sessions and community events.
  • Review applications and determine eligibility for applicants under our adopted Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP) and Housing Choice Voucher Administrative Plan.
  • Coordinate orientation to the public housing program, including preparing materials and facilitating meetings.
  • Assist applicants with filling out applications, performing landlord reference checks, and verifying income.
  • Monitor arrest reports and Aleir reports for information on applicants.
  • Maintain the applicant waiting list and intake status report for affordable housing and Housing Choice Voucher in accordance with federal regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in social service, business, or public administration preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in public administration, business, or general or property management preferred.
  • Experience with computers and software systems required.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment, tact, and confidentiality in working with applicants and the general public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely and effective manner.
