Position Summary:
This role is integral to supporting Aviation Field and Sustainment Level Maintenance on rotary wing aircraft, specifically the MH-47 and MH-60 models, as part of our dedicated Contractor Field Team. The Rotary Wing Powertrain Technician will utilize a blend of skills to conduct repairs on engines, sheet metal, structural components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrains, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate complexity to fulfill operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute repairs on aircraft while adhering to the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Diagnose issues in aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing systems, pneudraulics, engines, auxiliary power units, and environmental systems.
  • Repair, replace, and reconstruct aircraft structures, including wings and fuselage, and functional components such as rigging, surface controls, and hydraulic systems, utilizing hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering specifications to assess the feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing defective components.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components, including carburetors, alternators, and fuel systems, using appropriate tools and equipment; disassemble and inspect parts for defects, and reassemble components in aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Conduct preflight, thru-flight, and postflight maintenance inspections.
  • Perform various tasks to service aircraft, including flushing crankcases, cleaning filters, greasing components, and checking braking systems.
  • Oversee the jacking and towing of aircraft, document maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess qualifications and experience in powertrain maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensing by the Federal Aviation Administration may be required.
  • Specialization in sheet metal, electrical work, avionics, or related aircraft systems is advantageous.
  • FAA licensing for contractor employee technical proficiency is not mandatory.
Security Clearance:
Must successfully pass a government background check and obtain a secret clearance. Compliance with all company information security policies is essential.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents and respond effectively to inquiries. Must be capable of writing reports and presenting information clearly.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform calculations related to figures, prices, and percentages, and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Skills:
Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Must understand electrical schematics and drawings.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include:
  • Ability to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Capability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl as necessary.
  • Ability to detect sounds and odors indicative of equipment issues.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.

  • A typical training device shop floor.
