Overview

The role of the International Lead Auditor encompasses the strategic planning and execution of comprehensive internal audit activities. This includes pinpointing and articulating issues, evaluating risks, structuring projects, crafting audit programs, and establishing performance metrics. The position requires thorough review and analysis of evidence while documenting organizational processes with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews, assess documentation, create and manage surveys, draft summary reports, and prepare working papers.
  • Identify, formulate, and document audit findings and recommendations through independent analysis and judgment.
  • Perform risk evaluations of business units to highlight areas of significant concern for audit focus.
  • Effectively communicate the outcomes of audit and advisory engagements through written reports and presentations.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of management action plans in response to audit suggestions.
  • Plan and implement various initiatives to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Guide and mentor junior auditors, providing support and direction.
  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with clients and staff through individual interactions and group discussions.
  • Represent the internal audit function in organizational project teams and at management gatherings.
  • Conduct specialized reviews and investigations as necessary.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the annual audit strategy.
  • Collaborate with consultants and external auditors.
  • Pursue opportunities for professional growth, including training and membership in professional organizations.
  • Promote and share best practices regarding business processes, risk management, internal controls, and governance.
  • Travel may be required up to 50%, covering both domestic and international locations.
  • May oversee the performance of junior auditors and lead specialized project teams.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient understanding and expertise in internal auditing and risk assessment practices.
  • Familiarity with management information systems and ERP concepts.
  • Awareness of industry policies, procedures, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex data and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Effective planning and project management abilities, with the capacity to maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Negotiation skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in business software applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to cultivate and sustain productive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to focus on multiple objectives independently.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Required certifications include CIA, CPA, or CISA; CFE certification is a plus.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time auditing experience; public accounting experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred but not mandatory.
