Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Assistant - Patient Care Specialist will be responsible for providing competent care to patients of all ages, from infants to geriatrics. This includes performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, assembling, operating, and troubleshooting equipment, and providing educational needs of patients on disease-specific processes.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. They will also be dependable, reliable, and punctual, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Safely assemble, operate, and troubleshoot therapeutic and diagnostic equipment required for patient care.
  • Provide competent care to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including general care, critical care, emergency care, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Assist with clinical instruction of respiratory care, nursing, and medical students and residents, as needed.
  • Complete accurate patient documentation, including billing and productivity standards.
  • Participate in creating a plan of care, evaluate achievement of identified goals, record results, and communicate pertinent information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Requirements
  • Must be actively enrolled and in good standing, or a recent graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Must be able to input and retrieve computer information.
  • If working in an Ohio facility, a current Limited Permit License to render respiratory care services by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board in the State of Ohio.
  • Must hold current BLS certification.
Working Conditions

The Respiratory Care Assistant - Patient Care Specialist will work in a hospital setting, tolerating exposure to infectious diseases and following infection prevention and control strategies. They will also be required to move about the hospital and between workstations efficiently and effectively.
