Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Special Education Coordinator and a certified Behavior Analyst, the Behavior Support Technician (BST) plays a crucial role in assisting educators and support staff by providing assessments, tailored behavior intervention plans, and effective strategies to address and mitigate student behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
The BST is responsible for delivering professional development to school personnel on behavioral strategies, interventions, and enhancing student engagement. The role includes:
1. Collecting and analyzing behavioral data to inform intervention strategies.
2. Training school staff on behavioral principles and effective student engagement techniques.
3. Directly working with students to implement behavioral interventions and support their development.

Essential Functions:
- Establish and nurture therapeutic relationships with students to promote positive behavior change.
- Encourage safe and socially acceptable behaviors through targeted prompting and reinforcement.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to assess student needs and develop appropriate interventions.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure effectiveness.

Qualifications:
- An associate degree or equivalent educational background is required.
- Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those exhibiting significant behavioral challenges.
- Successful completion of relevant certification assessments is mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, educators, and parents.
