Job Title: Experienced Welding Engineer

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We are seeking an Experienced Welding Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

The Experienced Welding Engineer will perform welding engineering evaluations, analysis, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks. This includes reviewing and preparing welding and process instructions, standards, and specifications, as well as providing welding engineering oversight of supplier processing and fabrication procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and prepare welding and process instructions, standards, and specifications
  • Prepare, follow, and report welding development programs
  • Provide welding engineering oversight of supplier processing and fabrication procedures
  • Analysis of welding conditions
  • Troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Assisting with in-service inspections and evaluations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering (with an interest in physical metallurgy)
  • Application of welding in the design and fabrication of equipment
  • Preparation and interpretation of welding specifications and standards, and the metallurgy of materials to fabricate plant equipment or pressure vessels
