Position Overview

Embody the Core Values as defined by the leadership team. The primary objective for all roles at Ace Hardware is to Delight Every Customer Every Time. Sales associates are tasked with engaging customers, identifying their needs, and anticipating requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in unloading incoming shipments and organizing merchandise as directed by management.

Maintain Your Designated Area:
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and adequate stock levels.

  • Implement daily operational goals and priorities set by store management with a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, participating in daily meetings and sharing improvement suggestions with management.
  • Remove promotional signage and price tags as necessary following sales events.
  • Restock merchandise displays as required, paying attention to end caps and side displays.
  • Handle special orders for non-stock items, ensuring to consult with a manager before declining customer requests.
  • Monitor for theft and act in accordance with company policy to deter shoplifting, providing excellent customer service to prevent such incidents.
  • Deliver an exceptional experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and approachable.
  • When not assisting customers or cleaning, position yourself in a main aisle to observe customer activity and assist as needed.
  • Serve customers in your assigned areas or throughout the store, providing necessary advice or information and greeting customers promptly.
  • Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process effectively.
  • Engage in in-store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests).
  • Assist customers with minor complaints or concerns, involving a manager when necessary.
  • Utilize the Five Foot Rule - greet and acknowledge all customers within five feet of you.
  • Maintain a polite and attentive demeanor towards customers, making eye contact and smiling.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, explaining the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and utilizing the Magic Question.
  • Stay informed about all promotions and advertisements to inform customers about special sales.
  • Wear your radio at all times to communicate effectively with other associates or management.
  • Assist customers with large or heavy items as required.
  • Offer customers a shopping basket for convenience.
  • Support the training and development of fellow associates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience and knowledge in plumbing are highly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
  • Skilled in providing prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn all areas of the store and assist in training others.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Consistent pattern of regular and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Availability must be flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
