Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled GI Lab Technician to join our team at Hennepin County Medical Center. This part-time role will primarily work on-site, 8-hour shifts (primarily Days, some Evening hours).

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Procure and stock equipment and supplies, maintaining a clean and operable environment.
  • Observe patients' physical condition and communicate any changes or concerns to the RN.
  • Assist RN and MD with equipment and patient care needs prior to, during, and post procedure.
  • Take and record patients' vital signs per nursing protocol or physician's order.
  • Collect and label specimens appropriately, following proper protocols.
  • Conduct POC testing, gathering equipment for cleaning and sterilization.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to Standard Precautions.
  • Provide age and culturally appropriate care, orienting and mentoring new staff members as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a patient care setting, preferably in endoscopy.
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Endoscopy certified.
  • Previous GI experience.
