Key Responsibilities:

The JCC Association is looking for a dedicated year-round Assistant Caretaker. This role provides an opportunity to live and work in a scenic environment alongside a team of passionate individuals. Collaborating with the Head Caretaker and seasonal maintenance personnel, the Assistant Caretaker will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and functionality of the facilities. This position comes with benefits and requires a versatile skill set including carpentry, electrical work, small engine repair, painting, plumbing, and general facilities upkeep. A good sense of humor and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Essential Qualifications:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on buildings
  • Assist with significant repair projects
  • Support the upkeep of grounds and natural resources
  • Help maintain water systems, pools, and sewage systems
  • Participate in general clean-up efforts
  • Assist in vehicle maintenance
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling
  • Document maintenance activities and equipment usage
  • Evening and weekend availability is required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Certifications
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work with children and pass a background check
  • Willingness to obtain certification as a sewage system operator
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the JCC Association
  • Experience in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and vehicle maintenance
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment related to maintenance tasks
  • Comfortable using computers and software such as MS Word and Excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially in receiving feedback
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow instructions and listen actively
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks
