Key Responsibilities:
The PACU Registered Nurse is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor.
- Provide comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all patients within the PACU.
- Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to coordinate post-operative care, while guiding and directing other staff to maintain high standards of care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding any changes in the patient's clinical status, including hemodynamic monitoring and abnormal diagnostic results.
- Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure quality patient care, efficient patient flow, and organized unit maintenance.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid and current state RN License.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain throughout employment.
- ACLS (AHA) certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
- PALS (AHA) certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in Critical Care or PACU, or a minimum of one year of on-the-job training.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
