Job Description

As an Outdoor Adventure Leader, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging outdoor activities that promote teamwork, problem-solving, and self-confidence among campers. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Safety First: Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all campers, adhering to Girl Scouts of Western New York's health and safety guidelines;
  2. Activity Planning: Creating and delivering exciting outdoor programs that cater to diverse age groups and abilities;
  3. Teamwork & Collaboration: Fostering positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and campers to create a cohesive and supportive community;
  4. Communication: Effectively communicating program details, camper needs, and concerns to staff, parents, and other stakeholders;
  5. Logistics: Coordinating event setup, execution, and teardown, including equipment maintenance and storage.
Required Skills & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Outdoor Experience: Proven ability to lead outdoor activities, with a focus on youth development and program design;
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in team management and conflict resolution;
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse populations;
  • Time Management & Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through;
  • First Aid & CPR Certification: Current certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain during designated training days.
Bonus Requirements

In addition to the above requirements, we are seeking candidates who:

  • Have prior camp experience or interest in the Girl Scout Camping program;
  • Are able to lift 35 pounds and maintain constant supervision;
  • Can commit to working irregular hours, including participating in Wednesday evening overnight programs;
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability when working with children.
