Dignity Health Medical Foundation is a leading healthcare provider in California, dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. We are seeking a skilled Certified Orthopedic Tech to join our team in the outpatient clinic setting. As a Certified Orthopedic Tech, you will play a vital role in supporting podiatry and orthopedic needs, assisting providers with casting, orthotics, wound care, and ordering supplies. You will also be responsible for applying casts and splints, applying orthopedic devices, and documenting patient concerns and care provided in the patient's medical record. In addition, you may be asked to perform Medical Assistant and/or back office duties as needed. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, fracture healing, and wound healing. You will also need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team. * Assist providers with casting, orthotics, wound care, and ordering supplies
* Apply casts and splints pursuant to the provider's order
* Apply orthopedic devices, pre-fabricated orthotics, and traction
* Document patient concerns and care provided in the patient's medical record
**Qualifications:**
* Meet educational requirements to successfully obtain The National Board Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT) Certification
* Certified Orthopedic Tech (OTC)
* Current BLS through American Heart Association
* Ability to articulate descriptions of orthopaedic conditions based on understanding anatomical structures and the relationship with one another
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to take initiative while displaying proper judgement
* Ability to work well as part of a team
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Two or more (2+) years experience in in Orthopedics and/or Podiatry clinic or office performing patient assessments, applying casts, splints and orthopedic appliances, and assisting with direct patient care and in office procedures
