The NYC Health + Hospitals-Carter facility in East Harlem offers 24-hour care for individuals requiring short-term, long-term, or hospice care. Our skilled nursing facilities are rated as Best Nursing Homes by US News and World Report. We are committed to serving the city, providing services to individuals needing geriatric, memory care, and rehabilitation services.

At NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler, our 815-bed nursing facility on Roosevelt Island provides quality medical, sub-acute, rehabilitative, and long-term specialty services. We strive to deliver personalized care, tailoring our services to meet each patient's unique needs.

We offer primary and specialty outpatient care through our Diagnostic and Treatment Center (DTC) at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur. Our residential care program caters to the elderly and infirmed, providing a comfortable and supportive environment.

Our Work Environment
We operate 24/7, with various shift options available: Day shifts from 7:30am to 4:00pm, Evening shifts from 3:30pm to 12:00am, and Overnight shifts from 11:45pm to 7:45am.

Job Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide professional care to patients within an assigned unit. You will diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems using nursing methods and techniques such as case-finding, health teaching, health counseling, and providing care supportive to and restorative of life and well-being.
  • You will plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care utilizing the nursing process.
  • You will formulate and implement comprehensive nursing care plans, setting priorities and delivering care to meet resident needs.
  • You will evaluate residents' responses and make appropriate changes to the care plan, maintaining accurate documentation as described in policies and procedures.
  • You will collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team in the care of residents, including family members and caregivers.
  • You will transcribe physician orders and administer medication/treatment according to established protocols.
  • You will assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
  • You will maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • You will demonstrate safety awareness and follow protocols for fire, disaster, infection control, and other safety practices.
  • You will participate in performance improvement activities and committees as assigned.

Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must hold an active, unrestricted registered professional nursing license in New York State or another state/U.S. territory. Additionally, you must possess valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
