Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional

Are you passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their lives? Do you have strong communication and organizational skills? We are seeking a dedicated and caring Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at Lakeville Area Schools.

Job Summary:

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work under the supervision of an ESS Instructor and Special Education Lead to provide direct and indirect support to students with special needs. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting instructors with extracurricular activities, providing prep and clean up of projects, snacks, and activities, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist instructors with extracurricular activities, such as physical recreation/sports and art and crafts
  • Provide prep and clean up of projects, snacks, and activities
  • Promote a positive learning environment and advocate for student needs
  • Support development of individual communication, social, and functional skills
  • Communicate any issues to the instructor/supervisor
  • Assist students with mobility, which may include toileting/changing diapers, lifting and transferring students, helping with dressing, and assisting students with adaptive equipment
Benefits:
  • $24.22 per hour depending on experience
  • Before and after school shifts ranging from 2 to 6 hours per day
  • Participate in field trips on non-school days
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Prefer candidates with AA degree and/or additional training or work experience relevant to children or adolescents
  • Para pro test NOT required
  • Applicants should have strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
