Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with teachers, school psychologists, and social workers to develop behavior intervention plans for students with behavioral concerns.
- Work directly with students to adapt behaviors that increase their academic performance and functional independence.
- Provide strategies and activities tailored to individual students' needs.
- Support students with behavioral needs in the classroom and collaborate with general education teachers.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and referrals.
- Consult with teachers, ancillary staff, and administrators to develop successful transitions for students.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student behavior and progress.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Michigan Department of Education certification or equivalent experience.
- Behavior Intervention Specialist certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Planning.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, developmental disabilities, and emotional impairments.
- Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention strategies or willingness to be trained.
- ABA experience required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and consultative skills.
- Knowledge of MDE Emergency Seclusion and Emergency Restraint Law.
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications and online sourcing tools.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and monitor data on student behavior.
- Reliability, punctuality, and excellent attendance record.
- Able to lift 15 pounds and travel to other buildings within the district.
