Timber Sales Training Specialist

The Center for Workforce Inclusion is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Timber Sales Administration Trainer. This position is part of the North Kaibab Ranger District within the NFS Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program, which is supported by a grant administered by the U.S. Forest Service (NFS). Candidates must be 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States. A federal security background check will be required for selected candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary function of this role is to provide training and mentorship to Forest Service personnel engaged in various Timber Sales Administration tasks.
- Offer guidance and support to Timber Sales Administrators and Timber Staff during field inspections of purchaser operations.
- Evaluate timber sale statements or accounts prepared by Timber Sales Administrators to ensure accuracy and sufficiency; provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Assist in the review and evaluation of timber sale contracts and pre-sale data to assess their viability and adequacy.
- Observe and assess the work of Timber Sales Administrators to ensure compliance with contract specifications and obligations, including the preparation of service contracts and the fulfillment of contractual requirements prior to sale closure.
- Facilitate training for Forest Service employees in timber sales preparation activities.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following criteria: be 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States; pass a Federal Background check; possess a BA/BS degree; have a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in a related field; demonstrate the ability to coordinate and conduct timber sales preparation duties; possess knowledge of timber sales preparation, including boundary determination, layout, and tree marking for various prescriptions; be familiar with logging and transportation systems, as well as timber cruising; exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills; hold a valid driver's license; and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), ARCVIEW GIS, Timber Information Manager (TIM), and Forest Products Financial System (FPFS).
Work Schedule and Compensation: This is a part-time position requiring 25 hours of work per week, compensated at a rate of $50.00 per hour.
This role is part of the Older Americans Act of 1965 / Title V COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT initiative, which creates part-time public service and private sector job opportunities for unemployed, experienced, and/or low-income individuals aged 55 and older.
