Job Title: High School Special Education Teacher

Freire Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a member of our special education team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all students on your caseload have access to high-quality instruction and support.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to create a classroom culture that fosters critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.
  • Familiarize yourself with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and specially designed instructional/behavioral accommodations for students on your caseload.
  • Develop and implement content-specific curriculum and learning materials to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school-related information.
  • Participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support the needs of our students.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification
  • Strong content knowledge
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations
