Job Summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a skilled Welder 8 Position to join our team. As a key member of our assembly line, you will be responsible for welding various components to create pole assemblies for structural welds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use GMAW process to tack weld small components to round or square shafts
  • Manually position shaft on stationary turner to assemble pole assembly
  • Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly
  • Locate and gather parts needed for assembly from parts staging area
  • Use plasma torch to cut steel and utilize jigs made at Valmont for cutting holes in shafts
  • Measure distances and angles using measuring tape, levels, squares, and angle finders
  • Work in confined areas at various locations of the pole assembly line to accurately measure and assemble components

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write English
  • 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

  • Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shifts
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over, and occasional climbing
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds 10% of the time, average weight of parts lifted is 25 pounds
