Position Overview:
The Department of Otolaryngology is in search of a proactive, esteemed, and nationally acknowledged professional to take on the role of Department Chair at New York Medical College (NYMC) and Director at Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMC).
This pivotal role involves being a prominent leader dedicated to advancing the collective objectives and mission of the academic health institution, thereby enhancing the department's stature in both academic and professional realms.
The Chair/Director will be accountable for ensuring that WMC delivers exceptional clinical services, including outpatient care across various practice locations within the Hudson Valley network.
Responsibilities will also encompass the management of WMC's ACGME-accredited Otolaryngology Residency program, fostering the educational initiatives of NYMC, and creating avenues for professional growth and academic achievement for over 15 faculty members, including the expansion of the department's clinical and translational biomedical research initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or D.O. degree
• Active New York State Medical License or eligibility to obtain
• Fellowship training in a subspecialty of Otolaryngology is preferred
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Otolaryngology
• Eligibility for a senior faculty appointment at NYMC (e.g., professor)
• Established clinical experience and a reputation as an exemplary clinician
• Proven ability to lead and develop academic programs in clinical Otolaryngology, education, and research
• Successful history of leadership and achievements within an academic health center or intricate healthcare system
• Experience in educational leadership is highly valued
• Evidence of substantial scholarly contributions
About the Institution:
The Department of Otolaryngology offers advanced ENT services to both adult and pediatric populations in the Hudson Valley and accepts referrals for complex cases from nearby hospitals.
Subspecialties within the department are led by fellowship-trained faculty in areas such as General Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Neurotology, Rhinology and Endoscopic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery, and Pediatric Otolaryngology.
Collaborative translational research is actively pursued with NYMC's basic science faculty in state-of-the-art laboratories located within the Basic Medical Sciences Building on the expansive academic health campus.
Westchester Medical Center stands as the leading provider of advanced medical services in New York's Hudson Valley. This flagship institution, with 895 beds, offers acute-care services unique to the region, including Level I trauma and burn care, organ transplants, and advanced neurovascular procedures.
WMC serves as the primary referral center for other hospitals in the Hudson Valley, providing essential medical services to over 3 million residents.
