Job Title: Transportation Specialist

Description:

As a key member of the Region 7 Consortium team, you will operate school buses and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation for students. Your daily route will require adherence to established schedules, anticipating potential issues like traffic, weather, or road conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive bus following assigned routes, adhering to schedules, and ensuring student safety.
  • Transport students to extracurricular activities while maintaining discipline and order.
  • Inspect buses before and after trips, reporting any needed repairs or maintenance to your supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of bus mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger counts.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding student behavior, communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures, staying alert in case of emergencies.
  • Use two-way radio equipment to communicate with the transportation office and other drivers.
  • Participate in required training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests, as well as annual physical exams.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Capacity to use maps and GPS systems to navigate routes and locate addresses.
  • Willingness to complete required bus driver safety training and adhere to all safety regulations.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
