As an Entry-Level Geoscientist at [Company Name], you will assist in geotechnical projects through field investigations, data collection, and preliminary analysis. This role is tailored for recent graduates or individuals new to the field, offering a solid foundation for a career in geotechnical engineering.
Field Investigations:
- Assist in conducting site evaluations and geological mapping.
- Participate in soil and rock sampling and documentation.
- Support drilling and boring operations.
- Aid in groundwater monitoring and hydrological assessments.
- Gather and document geological and geotechnical data.
- Assist in preparing basic geological reports and cross-sections.
- Help interpret laboratory test results on soil and rock samples.
- Aid in developing geotechnical models and simulations.
- Provide preliminary geological input for foundation design and site evaluations.
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate geotechnical recommendations into project designs.
- Adhere to company safety protocols during field operations.
- Participate in safety training and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Work alongside project managers, engineers, and field technicians.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to the team.
- Support project planning and scheduling activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geosciences, or a related field.
- Internship or related experience in geological fieldwork is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with geotechnical investigations is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of geological mapping and soil/rock classification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with geological software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER) are advantageous.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various outdoor conditions.
- Willingness to travel to remote job sites as needed.
- Capability to lift and carry equipment and samples up to 50 pounds.
- Fieldwork involves exposure to various weather conditions and terrains.
- Travel to different job sites, sometimes on short notice.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
