Overview:
The Clinical Practice Lead/RN is a licensed professional nurse in the State of Maine responsible for overseeing clinical support personnel within designated practices and departments. This role includes providing direct patient care within the RN scope of practice to ensure clinical proficiency as per the needs of the practice. The RN will exemplify leadership qualities, employing effective communication skills, adhering to the standards of behavior and policies set forth by Northern Light Health, and delivering safe, competent, and compassionate care to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit expertise and proficiency in nursing care tailored to the patient demographics served by the designated practice(s) and/or department(s).
- Manage clinical and administrative responsibilities, including staff scheduling, orientation and education oversight, development of tailored clinical action plans, and coaching, as well as annual competency evaluations to promote professional development under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Services.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and disciplinary processes alongside the practice manager.
- Develop, implement, and report on clinical Performance Improvement initiatives relevant to the practice(s)/department(s).
- Actively participate in the Policy and Procedure committee, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care, streamline practice operations, and comply with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the clinical environment meets JCAHO and Maine state regulations.
- Identify educational needs and support the development of continuing education for clinical support staff while recognizing the importance of personal professional growth.
- Complete all mandatory educational requirements and attend scheduled meetings unless excused.
- Serve as a role model for Northern Light Health's Mission, Vision, Strategic Plan, and Service Excellence.
- Maintain a safe environment for all healthcare workers, patients, and visitors, adhering to established policies and procedures, and addressing safety violations promptly.
- Engage in daily communication with management to ensure optimal operation of the practice(s)/department(s) for patient care.
- Conduct daily huddles with clinical support staff to encourage open communication, provide real-time education, and maintain the clinical environment.
- Perform additional work-related duties within the RN scope of practice as assigned.
License Requirements: Current unencumbered Maine State RN license.
Availability Requirements: Must be available for occasional extended/weekend hours as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience required, with preference for experience in an ambulatory setting. BLS certification is required within the first week of employment, with ongoing CPR certification necessary. ACLS may be required based on departmental procedures.
Physical Demands: This position requires a light level of physical effort, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
Working Conditions: The role may involve working beyond regular hours and exposure to varying noise levels.
