Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced CDL driver to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory. As a CDL driver, you will be responsible for transporting passengers to and from Salvation Army activities, as well as providing childcare services for school-age children participating in our Before/After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for Youth and Corps members to and from activities.
  • Drive a Salvation Army vehicle in accordance with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
  • Maintain control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.
  • Provide leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Facilitate activities for school-age children, ensuring that activities are age-appropriate, stimulating, fun, and safe for the children.
  • Prepare and serve children snacks and meals, ensuring that children receive nutritional and tasteful food.
  • Organize and supervise recreational activities, observing, monitoring, and supervising children on the playground.
  • Prepare schedules, parent notices, newsletters, and other instruments necessary for the smooth operation of all programs.
  • Exhibit control of the children and, when needed, display proper discipline techniques.
  • Assure all program rooms are decorated with up-to-date themes and seasons, and assist in preparing and maintaining attractive, entertaining, and educational bulletin boards.
  • Collect and receipt all money paid by program participants, ensuring the security and accountability of all money collected.
  • Maintain the program materials in an orderly fashion and maintain accountability for materials necessary for programs.
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
  • Report all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Build and maintain effective and positive relationships with parents, community leaders, and host organizations and agencies, ensuring all obligations are fulfilled in meeting the requirements of any written or verbal agreements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years' experience operating an automotive vehicle, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
