Job Summary:
The Pediatric Patient Care Specialist will provide direct patient care and administrative support to the healthcare team on a fast-paced unit at Fairview Health Services. This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator to deliver exceptional patient care and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care, including personal hygiene, vital signs, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
- Maintain unit desk area functions, including answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests
- Set up and maintain patient rooms
- Order and stock supplies
Requirements:
- 6 months of pediatric hospital experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
- One or more of the following:
- Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire
