This role is responsible for operating cash registers and electronic scanners to accurately process customer transactions, handle a variety of products, and provide exceptional customer service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating cash registers and electronic scanners to itemize customer purchases and process financial transactions, including cash, checks, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
  • Weighing and carefully bagging customer purchases.
  • Understanding and efficiently operating check-stand equipment, including registers, scanners, scales, and belts.
  • Performing front-end duties, such as merchandising check-stands and maintaining a clean and well-stocked department.
  • Communicating company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers and modeling high standards of service to achieve a customer-oriented store.
  • Complying with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and other essential procedures.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of prior retail or related experience, preferably with excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.

The physical demands of this role include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
