Job Description

As a Starbucks Barista at Kroger, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a safe and clean environment. You will treat customers and employees with fairness and respect, promoting an inclusive work environment and demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products and providing recommendations.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with associates to achieve company and store goals.
  • Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards, and tender transactions using company best practices.
  • Offer product samples to customers and inform them of coffee shop specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use all equipment in the coffee shop according to company guidelines, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review 'sell by' dates.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machine, blender, computerized scale, and steamer.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks, issues, or illegal activity.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
