Job Summary

The State of Delaware is seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Commodity Inspector I to join our team. As an Agricultural Commodity Inspector I, you will be responsible for conducting inspections of agricultural commodities such as poultry, eggs, and fruits and vegetables to ensure compliance with various standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of commodities to determine compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Grade and inspect poultry, eggs, and fruits and vegetables to ensure quality and safety.
  • Prepare and issue certifications of products for international and national distribution.
  • Monitor food safety controls and communicate issues to supervisors and management.
  • Verify store specifications on labeling and ensure accurate application of labels.
  • Enforce federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to agricultural inspection and grading.
  • Interpret and apply technical standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with plant personnel, retailers, farmers, and facility management.
  • Utilize computers to enter information and prepare reports and records.
Requirements
  1. Knowledge of inspecting agricultural commodities such as poultry, eggs, or fruits and vegetables.
  2. Knowledge of math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals.
  3. Knowledge of record keeping.
  4. Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  5. Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire, and report on data.
  6. Possession of a valid Driver's License.
