Role Summary: The Senior Accountant will assist the financial controller by managing month-end closures, generating financial reports, and handling business and sales tax submissions. This role encompasses all aspects of Accounts Receivable (AR), including the accurate coding and documentation of expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts, reconciling customer accounts, and resolving discrepancies to ensure the efficient processing of all AR transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial statements and supporting ledgers in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for effective reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and precise monthly financial closings according to a set schedule, prioritizing deadlines and accuracy.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly closing process in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the submission of payment applications to contractors to guarantee prompt payments.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team to confirm final billing on project orders.
  • Ensure daily completion of billing processes.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and provide insights to management.
  • Work with the management team to enhance automation in the billing process where feasible.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive company information.
  • Compile, prepare, and reconcile Sales Tax using Avalara.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry (including NTOs, Payapps, AIA forms) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cycle counts is essential.
  • Experience in customer account research is preferred.
  • A positive and collaborative mindset is crucial.
  • Strong listening skills to address customer concerns and coordinate internally.
  • A desire for professional growth and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with annual audits is preferred.
  • Expertise in account reconciliations and month-end closing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
