Paralegal Specialist

The US Air Force is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal Specialist to provide comprehensive legal support to the 377th Air Base Wing and Kirtland Air Force Base tenant units. As a key member of the Staff Judge Advocate team, you will be responsible for advocating to preserve command prerogatives, administering military justice and civil law programs, and advising leaders and personnel on the law.

• Conduct the processing of board entitled and non-board entitled administrative discharges.
• Provide legal support for Staff Judge Advocate and other staff attorneys.
• Maintain adverse actions docket, to include administrative involuntary board-entitled and non-board entitled discharges.
• Support the Staff Judge Advocate and Special Assistant United States Attorneys in processing cases in Federal Magistrate's Court.
• Provide training to paralegals and newly assigned personnel.
• Perform victim and witness assistance program administrative duties in support of Federal Law.

• One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
• Knowledge of basic legal principles and concepts to interpret and apply, or explain to others the application of, a body of law, regulations, precedents, and practices covering one or more recurring types of legal actions encountered in the agency.
• Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and reference sources such as agency manuals, directives, issuances, court reports, appellate records, or commercial legal publications sufficient to locate appropriate data such as applicable precedents, legislative history, and commentaries which bear on particular legal issues.
• Knowledge of legal terminology, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required legal formats to produce legal documents and communications.

• Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
• Knowledge of office functions and various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and written to provide training and guidance to a diverse group of individuals.
