Job Title: Infection Preventionist

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a highly skilled Infection Preventionist to join our team. As an Infection Preventionist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Infection Prevention Program for our assigned organization, serving as a liaison to all assigned organization departments and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct surveillance for hospital-acquired and community-acquired infections among patients and staff.
  • Interpret and report data to the Associate Director of Infection Prevention or Senior Director of Infection Prevention as appropriate.
  • Prepare summary data for assigned units or departments and relay key measures, concerns, and prevention strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care activities to identify methods, techniques, equipment, supplies, new products, or specific procedures that may constitute an infection risk.
  • Investigate clusters of infection in collaboration with the Hospital Epidemiologist, Infectious Disease Physicians, and Senior Director of Infection Prevention or Associate Director.
  • Participate in infection prevention policy development, review, and revision using current standards of practice.
  • Notify state or county health departments of specific communicable diseases as required by health department in accordance with RRH protocol.
  • Collect and enter data necessary for NHSN data reporting and other databases used in Infection Prevention.
  • Participate in development and provision of in-service programs related to Infection Prevention for the organization/departments/services for assigned organization.
  • Serve as a consultant regarding Infection Prevention issues and policies as appropriate.
  • Support educational activities for Infection Prevention Liaison Committee.
  • Participate in assigned organization-based committees as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • CIC certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience (e.g., nursing, clinical, public health).
  • Bachelor degree in health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health).
  • Registered Nurse license in New York State and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
