Job Title: Vascular Sonographer

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team in Oak Forest, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Vascular Sonographer to perform a comprehensive array of sophisticated abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Imaging and Reporting: Independently perform technically optimal, thorough, and accurate images for diagnostic assessment, recognizing and demonstrating critical findings such as deep vein thrombosis, ectopic pregnancy, aortic aneurysms, or dissection.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Demonstrate competence in the operation of all imaging and monitoring related equipment, reporting any equipment problems to the Department Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration with Physicians: Assist physicians during other related procedures such as amniocentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, cath lab procedures, surgery, thrombin injection, and compression for pseudoaneurysm.
  • Documentation and Communication: Document patient history, images, and preliminary results exactly as stated in department protocols, communicating with physicians, nursing units, and the Emergency Department as needed.
  • Quality Assurance and Accreditation: Participate in the department QA program and accreditation process, attending meetings and in-services to ensure technical competence, and assisting with database input and project facilitation.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS needs to be obtained within 18 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
