Job Summary:
As a Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in preparing and performing non-invasive diagnostic procedures and tests to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. This position requires close-to-moderate supervision and involves interviewing and preparing patients with an in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and report results of non-invasive echocardiographic diagnostic procedures.
- Ensure positive patient identification and promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Read, comprehend, and transcribe imaging orders, engaging with physicians when necessary.
- Interview patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components.
- Select appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy, pathology, and imaging capabilities.
- Measure, evaluate, and record gradients using pressure measurements recorded with Doppler ultrasound systems.
- Review and chart records of care into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Qualifications:
- Registered as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS, RDCS) through CCI or ARDMS.
- Education or graduation from an accredited cardiovascular sonography program.
- BLS certification.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) tools.
