Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Railcar Maintenance Specialist to become an integral part of our operations. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our railcar fleet.
As a Railcar Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, performing maintenance, and executing repairs on various types of railcars. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to interpret engineering schematics and adhere to industry regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute inspections to verify that railcars meet all regulatory and customer specifications.
- Perform necessary repairs while adhering to established safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.
- Carry out mechanical repairs on freight cars, including tank and hopper cars, as required.
- Occasionally engage in welding tasks when necessary.
- Efficiently coordinate and complete repair tasks within designated timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promptly reporting any hazards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all repairs and inspections.
- Participate actively in safety assessments and equipment evaluations.
- Follow all safety guidelines and contribute to safety initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Proven ability to follow written instructions and demonstrate job-related knowledge.
- Experience operating machinery, including large work vehicles and forklifts, is essential.
- Dependability and reliability in attendance and performance are crucial.
- Willingness to learn about railcar systems and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools is necessary.
- Ability to read engineering drawings is preferred.
- Must meet DOT requirements and pass necessary certifications.
- Previous experience in welding or mechanical roles is advantageous.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
The role requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, both indoors and outdoors. Employees may encounter heights and are required to use personal protective equipment as needed.
