Position Overview

The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Operations Leadership Manager may encompass overseeing pharmacy operations or clinical services. This role is accountable for managing, implementing, and coordinating comprehensive pharmacy operations and/or clinical pharmacy service programs that align with the overall departmental strategy, integrating best practices, prioritizing patient safety, and optimizing outcomes to deliver the highest value care to our patients and the organization. This position involves managing personnel and budgetary resources to ensure the coordinated delivery of pharmacy services. The role also ensures compliance with all quality, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. It promotes excellence based on departmental and organizational objectives, with a commitment to the mission, philosophy, strategic vision, and priorities.Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school.

Certifications: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of pharmacy experience required OR completion of PGY1/PGY2 residency in Pharmacy Administration.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices, as well as an understanding of the healthcare reimbursement landscape.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Experience in quality improvement, financial management, strategic planning, project management, and team development.
Principal Duties
  • Supervises and manages the activities of all department personnel, including the recruitment and training of new staff. Ensures staff competencies are evaluated and provides opportunities for ongoing training and education as needed.
  • Assesses pharmacy services and patient outcomes, developing or updating services and resources to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and accreditation standards, maintaining appropriate records, documentation, and reporting as required.
  • Oversees the pharmacy's continuous accreditation and regulatory compliance through assessment, gap analysis, action plan development, stakeholder communication, and collaboration for corrective action implementation.
  • Provides oversight, development, and implementation of clinical and quality pharmacy services and programs.
  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a process to address and monitor complaints and adverse events.
  • Develops and maintains a system for documentation, assessment protocols, and presentation of clinical interventions based on input from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/HITECH.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
  • Encourages individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a mentor and resource to learners and pharmacy staff.
