Job Summary

As an Electroneurodiagnostic Specialist at Children's Hospital Of The King's Daughters, you will be responsible for performing quality EEG technical procedures in accordance with Electroneurodiagnostic ASET guidelines and departmental policies. You will work under the supervision and guidance of an END/EEG Technologist or physician to ensure accurate obtainment of brain activity and identification of brain activity for review and interpretation by the physician.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately obtain brain activity and identify brain activity for review and interpretation by the physician.
• Provide identified modalities of END and evoked potential procedures to all age groups following established policies, procedures, and regulations (hospitalized and ambulatory patients).
• Provide patient/family education.
• Assist management with performance improvement, billing, budget, equipment, and design processes related to END.
• Expertly perform clinical duties within the scope of clinical education/training, practice, and expertise for END procedures.
• Ability to accommodate after-hour call coverage.

Requirements

• Completion of an END/EEG associate's degree or CAAHEP Accredited END Program required.
• Minimum of twelve months previous END/EEG experience required.
• Knowledge of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) techniques/principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of electrodiagnostic equipment as normally acquired through completion of an approved training program preferred.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients/families, nursing personnel, and physicians.
• CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• For employees who are part of the CHKD END Apprentice to Technologist program only: Must obtain certification/registration as an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist within twelve months of completing CAAHEP Accredited END Program and provide evidence of passing through an ABRET registry certificate.

Working Conditions

Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids, and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
