The University of Maryland Medical System seeks a skilled OB Surgical Technologist to assist in clinical and clerical duties within the Labor and Delivery setting. As a key member of the obstetrical surgical team, you will perform selected patient care tasks under the supervision of nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients and equipment for special obstetrical surgical procedures
- Assist the obstetrical surgical team as a scrub during Cesarean Sections and other surgical procedures in Labor and Delivery
- Maintain surgical and other equipment, ensuring adequate supply levels for the Labor and Delivery OR at all times
- High School Graduate or GED Program required
- Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification
- OB technical training program with didactic and on-the-job training to develop skills necessary to perform job duties
- Post-secondary certification in Surgical Technology
- Associate degree and/or job-specific work experience
- 1-year experience in a related field, with handling of sterile supplies and instruments, surgical scrub experience, and experience working with labor and delivery patients
- Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology
