Job Summary

The St. Louis Jewish Community Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Assistant to join our Adult Day Center team. As a Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing personalized support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as older adults with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support individuals with disabilities and cognitive impairments in group activities, including swimming, exercise, volunteering, and socialization.
  • Assist in researching and developing activities to benefit participants cognitively, socially, recreationally, and physically.
  • Complete daily documentation and data collection to maintain compliance with licensure and contracts.
  • Facilitate individual accommodations and physical location transitions as needed.
  • Appropriately intervene in crisis situations related to behavior or health.
  • Work cooperatively with the Adult Day Center team to enhance programs.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; related Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities required.
  • Working knowledge of medical conditions and diagnoses common among elderly and disabled populations a plus.
  • Prior experience working with the elderly, medically frail, and/or people with cognitive impairments strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity with excellent communication skills to understand and interpret written and oral materials and instructions required.
