Job Title: Optician RMG

Riverside Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optician RMG to join our team. As an Optician RMG, you will be responsible for designing, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames for patients according to written optical prescriptions or specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patients according to written optical prescriptions or specifications.
  • Assist patients with selecting frames and measuring patients for size of eyeglasses.
  • Prepare lab orders containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames.
  • Verify exactness of finished lens spectacles and adjust frame and lens positions to fit patients.
  • Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory, submitting patient insurance claims, and performing simple bookkeeping.
  • Arrange and maintain displays of optical merchandise.
  • Explain features and benefits of all current eye wear technology available to meet the patients' needs.
  • Accurately complete ordering process including lab and merchandise orders.
  • Collect insurance plan authorizations and accurately explain plan coverage and limitations to patients.
  • Accurately calculate, file, and collect any co-payments and surcharges under patient vision plan/discount plan.
  • Maintain high customer service expectations for the patients and their families, physicians, optical team members, and visitors.
  • Respond to and resolve patient service issues, including lab manufacturing delays and frame back orders.
  • Review lab invoices for accuracy of order and pricing.
  • Verify outside lab fees match HREA contracted pricing.
  • Submit incorrect invoices for corrected pricing and track credits.
  • Maintain knowledge of new optical products, technologies, compliance standards, billing, and lab ordering processes.
  • Successfully complete annual requirements (CBL's) for mandatory competencies within required time frame.
  • Perform duties of Optical Lab technician as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Program Graduate, approved school of Opticianry (Required)
  • 2 years Optician (Preferred)
  • Optician License - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Required)
