POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide assistance with library resources and services in a friendly and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address patron inquiries via telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Organize library materials on shelves and ensure proper order.
  • Process library materials for check-in and check-out using an automated system.
  • Receive, categorize, and manage incoming delivery items.
  • Prepare items for the Hold Shelf.
  • Redirect circulation materials to various branches as needed.
  • Register new patrons and issue library cards.
  • Collect overdue fines and fees.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and development days.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • May include tasks such as ordering supplies, processing periodicals, mending and cleaning books or audiovisual materials, managing invoices, creating records, and maintaining database accuracy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires the ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, communicate, and lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs. on a daily basis. Occasional sitting may be required, and the position demands close vision, distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills, including typing and keyboarding.
  • Strong communication abilities and a knack for engaging with staff and the public.
  • Capability to comprehend and execute instructions effectively.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.

COMPENSATION: Part-Time $15.00 per hour, 24 hours per week
