Job Summary:

The Upstate University Hospital seeks a skilled Obstetrician and Gynecologist Care Provider to join our team. As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care within the scope and standards of care, diagnosing illnesses and physical conditions, and performing therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures for our inpatient or emergent triage outpatient patient population.

The obstetric services will include antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, including the performance of circumcisions, ED OB evaluations, admissions, discharges, and management for all the above.

The gynecological services will include pre-operative and post-operative care, including L&D Triage, ED evaluations, admissions, and discharges.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment of patients within the designated clinical unit.
  • Performs fetal monitoring NST with interpretation and amniotic fluid index (AFI) interpretations.
  • Performs newborn circumcisions.
  • Orders customary laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per practice protocols and differentiates between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Formulates the plan of care along with the attending physician, the patient, and their family, based on expected goals of care and length of stay.
  • Works collaboratively with the attending physician, consulting physician(s), residents, fellows, and other disciplines to identify, develop, and implement an appropriate plan of care.
  • Prescribes in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances.
  • Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and bylaws.

Requirements:
  • NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required.
  • NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice.
  • Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
  • Initial certification must be present or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP Provider, NALS, EFM, fetal monitoring NST with interpretation, and amniotic fluid index (AFI) interpretations.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday Afternoon/Evening with occasional weekends & holidays
