Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) is a unique opportunity for individuals to become effective teachers in a Christian context. Our program combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, providing residents with the skills and support needed to succeed in the classroom.
Program Highlights- Master of Arts in Teaching through Christian Brothers University, with tuition provided
- Intensive classroom experience with a mentor-teacher in an under-resourced school
- State of Tennessee Educator License
- Housing at The Parcels at Crosstown
- $15,600 stipend for the 12-month training period
- Weekly evaluation and mentoring by an MTR coach
- Americorps service available
To be eligible for the MTR program, applicants must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, a minimum GPA of 2.75, and a passing score on the Praxis II Content Knowledge Exam. We also look for individuals with a growth mindset, organizational skills, an asset-based approach, humility, and a desire to serve.
