Position Overview

The role involves overseeing the development and prompt implementation of a feasible and effective production timetable for a selection of Contract Manufacturers, both domestically and internationally, while striving to maintain minimal inventory levels and achieving designated service standards. Responsibilities include creating and managing purchase orders and other related transactions within the SAP system, as well as conducting periodic inventory reconciliations with assigned Contract Manufacturer sites to ensure accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the supply planning process to uphold service levels and inventory management with contract manufacturers, acting as the single point of contact for designated CMs.
  • Foster relationships with strategic Contract Manufacturing sites through regular CS&OP meetings.
  • Oversee long-term planning for product catalogs within the IBP planning tool framework.
  • Ensure accuracy of Shiseido-owned inventory at external manufacturing locations.
  • Manage daily operations related to service and inventory for the assigned portfolio.
  • Collaborate with New Product Commercialization teams to establish supply plans for product launches.
  • Implement the agreed service level agreements with Contract Manufacturers.

Collaborative Relationships

  • In partnership with Contract Manufacturers and procurement, define production strategies for various product categories in accordance with the global planning framework.
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with external manufacturing plants, establishing regular communication to enhance collaboration.
  • Align inventory policies with the planning framework to accurately translate forecasts into manufacturing schedules that support defined production strategies and business goals.
  • Engage with Contract Manufacturers to ensure the adoption of efficient and cost-effective manufacturing strategies by product type.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring compliance with service standards in collaboration with Sales & Operations Planning.
  • Maintain all SKUs within the planning horizon while adhering to agreed service levels.
  • Work closely with Contract Manufacturers to execute supply strategies tailored to specific categories.
  • Plan and monitor inventory levels of finished goods using the long-term IBP planning module.
  • Identify and address excess and obsolete inventory, driving root cause analysis and action planning to mitigate issues.
  • Coordinate with Material Supply Planning to guarantee timely delivery of components.
  • Collaborate with New Product Commercialization to establish supply plans for new product introductions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • APICS exposure and CPIM certification are preferred.
  • A four-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a supply planning role, preferably within a manufacturing or supplier context in the consumer goods sector.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other relevant scheduling and forecasting software.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an advanced ERP/MRP environment.
  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of DRP and MPS processes in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain functions and their interconnections.
  • Strong grasp of capacity management and production control principles.
  • Understanding of safety stock levels and other critical parameters for finished goods and components.
  • Experience in production lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with TQM methodologies and their application for continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of supplier management concepts.
