Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Stormwater Inspector to join our team at the City of Shreveport, LA. As a Stormwater Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our waterways and protecting the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct water quality monitoring and sampling to identify potential pollutants and contaminants.
  • Inspect businesses and industries to ensure compliance with stormwater regulations and guidelines.
  • Respond to stormwater quality complaints and questions from the public.
  • Monitor and document sanitary overflows and provide guidance to other City departments on stormwater matters.
  • Develop and implement public awareness programs to educate the community on stormwater issues.
  • Manage databases containing sampling results, sanitary sewer overflows, and inspection results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Storm Water Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, or biology or other appropriate field.
  • 1 year of experience in stormwater quality management or a related field.
  • Certification in the appropriate storm water field, awarded by a certifying body recognized by the U.S. EPA and/or Louisiana DEQ for MS3 training compliance purposes.
  • Proficient with computer software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Louisiana driver's license.
  • Ability to perform critical thinking, manage multiple projects, and prepare written reports and letters.
  • Excellent communication skills for contact with industrial/commercial facilities and the general public.
  • Physical ability to perform essential duties, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling heavy objects and materials.
