Job Description

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Support Engineer to join its Information Technology Division (ITD). As a key member of the Infrastructure and Security Management (ISM) unit, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery processes.

You will utilize Azure DevOps tools and services to manage, monitor, and optimize application deployments on Azure. Additionally, you will manage both cloud (IAAS/PAAS) and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.

Collaborating with development, infrastructure, and security teams, you will embed security practices into the DevOps lifecycle to implement the DevSecOps model for agile software development life cycles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery processes
  • Utilizing Azure DevOps tools and services to manage, monitor, and optimize application deployments on Azure
  • Managing both cloud (IAAS/PAAS) and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, and security
  • Collaborating with development, infrastructure, and security teams to embed security practices into the DevOps lifecycle
  • Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in the DevOps pipeline and infrastructure
  • Maintaining Git repositories and version control systems for codebase management
  • Working closely with Agile Scrum teams to facilitate continuous integration and delivery
  • Implementing Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices to enhance software development efficiency and quality
  • Leveraging cloud expertise to optimize Azure resources, cost effectiveness, and scalability
  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code templates for automated provisioning
  • Managing both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure components, ensuring seamless integration
  • Continuously monitoring and fine-tuning system performance to meet business objectives
  • Mentoring engineers and developers, sharing knowledge and best practices related to Azure DevOps
  • Staying current with Azure updates, network technologies, and security trends, integrating them into the organization's cloud strategy
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into the overall IT environment, ensuring seamless operation and data flow

Qualifications include a baccalaureate degree in computer science or a related field, supplemented by 24 semester credits in computer science or a related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications, systems programming, systems analysis and design, data communication software, or database design and programming.

Experience in computer operations, technical support, quality assurance (QA), hardware installation, help desk, or as an end user will not be accepted for meeting the minimum qualification requirements.
