Job Overview

Fincantieri Marine Group, a leader in the shipbuilding industry, is currently seeking a Senior HVAC Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the design and implementation of efficient HVAC systems for naval vessels.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior HVAC Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the oversight of HVAC system design, development, and review processes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and manage the design and review processes for HVAC systems in shipbuilding projects.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and internal guidelines during the design and execution of HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into ship designs.
  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations and provide insights for system enhancements, cost efficiencies, and performance improvements.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring project milestones are achieved within budget and on schedule.
  • Review and validate engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation related to HVAC systems.
  • Engage in discussions with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies regarding project specifications, progress, and technical challenges.
  • Stay informed on the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in HVAC engineering and shipbuilding.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experience in HVAC system design, ideally within the maritime or shipbuilding sector.
  • Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 8 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of progressive responsibility in the engineering field.
SKILLS
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and HVAC design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules and regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register) is advantageous.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
