Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Audiologist to join our team at Christus Health. As a Pediatric Audiologist, you will be responsible for testing, evaluating, and prescribing treatment for hearing disorders in children. You will provide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services, including visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, conventional audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, auditory brainstem response, acoustic immittance testing, earmolds, hearing aids, bone-conduction hearing aids, and cochlear implants.
Responsibilities:
- Interview parents prior to formal evaluation to gather relevant information.
- Choose appropriate tests considering the child's history and reason for referral.
- Administer routine and specialty diagnostic evaluations to assess communication skills and make accurate diagnoses.
- Communicate results to parents in an effective manner and provide education and department handouts.
- Plan and coordinate follow-up care for patients with or at risk for hearing loss.
- Make recommendations for amplification, therapy, referral, follow-up testing, educational adaptations, and home care.
- Involve parents/family in care plans and educational activities and obtain medical history.
- Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth progression and developmental milestones.
- Obtain and interpret age-specific audiometric data correctly.
- Use age-appropriate communication style and language with patients.
- Take precautions for safety and injury prevention related to age.
- Possess knowledge and skill to use age-appropriate equipment for assessment and treatment.
- Provide physical, emotional, and psychosocial support consistent with the patient's developmental level.
- Possess knowledge of how to utilize age-specific resources within the community.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of abuse or neglect.
- Ensure work areas are organized, safe, and professional in appearance.
- Accurately complete documentation and charges within Audiology department guidelines.
- Complete clear and concise reports using documentation templates.
- Self-manage own schedule to improve productivity.
- Supervise a practicum student or a 4th-year AuD candidate (optional).
- Participate in the cochlear implant program (optional).
- Follow CHRISTUS Provider Network guidelines related to HIPAA and maintain confidentiality.
- Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear and positive manner.
- Maintain established CHRISTUS Provider Network policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Implement job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics and supportive of CHRISTUS Provider Network's cultural diversity objectives.
- Support and adhere to CPN Service Guarantee.
Requirements:
- Doctoral Degree in Audiology (AuD) required.
- 0-3 years of experience required.
- Pediatric experience/rotation (externship) preferred.
- BLS required.
- ASHA or ABA certification required.
- Active Audiology Licensure in the State of practice required.
