About Us

Springfield Public Schools is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for English Language Learners, particularly those with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE). Job Responsibilities

As a Performing Arts Educator, your responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing anti-racist instructional strategies that empower students in their learning journey
  • Delivering rigorous, grade-level content using highly-rated, evidence-based curriculum
  • Providing targeted interventions for students requiring additional support, time, or scaffolding
  • Collaborating closely with a co-teaching team of two to three educators in the classroom
  • Engaging families as partners in the educational process, discussing successes, challenges, and solutions for our students
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications
  • Preferred experience teaching Performing Arts at the middle or high school level
  • Must possess the appropriate content/program area (Theatre) and grade level license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Candidates without the required license may be eligible for a waiver and are encouraged to apply.)
  • Preferred experience as an advocate for equity and anti-racism
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree is required

Benefits

Springfield Public Schools offers a competitive salary based on experience, with starting salaries for new teachers at $57,396. Teachers in our district are eligible for benefits including sick days, retirement plans, health insurance, and more.

Additionally, there may be unique opportunities within our schools to enhance earnings beyond the base salary, including:
  • Signing or relocation bonuses
  • Expanded Learning Time stipends at select schools, based on the yearly schedule
  • Empowerment Academies: Opportunities for intervention and instruction during breaks, following an application and selection process
