Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clinical expertise in your specialty area.
- Clearly communicate and demonstrate the role of the clinical nurse specialist/educator to nursing staff, administrators, and the community, serving as a role model to influence goal setting and achievement.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
- Utilize effective communication strategies and change management principles to build strong working relationships across departments, aligning with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Act as an expert clinical resource, guiding staff through complex patient care interventions.
- Ensure continuity of patient care by working closely with the interdisciplinary team from admission to discharge.
- Conduct educational assessments to identify the learning needs of team members, and design, implement, and evaluate educational programs accordingly.
- Promote safe medication administration practices.
- Engage in research initiatives to enhance patient care quality, integrating new scientific findings into educational programs and clinical practices.
- Facilitate patient and family education and support programs, applying the nursing process effectively.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to patient safety.
- Identify areas for clinical study to drive performance improvements.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating current trends and offering professional development opportunities for staff.
- Independently create, implement, and assess a personal continuing education and professional development plan.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Master’s degree in Nursing.
2. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience as a Nurse Educator.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse License.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
1. Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).
2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).
3. National Certification via the ANCC in any of the following: RNC, CCRN, PCCN.
